Yuvraj Singh takes charge with a commanding win in Digboi

Yuvraj Sandhu delivered a commanding wire-to-wire performance to claim a runaway seven-stroke victory at the silver jubilee edition of the IndianOil SERVO Masters on Friday, banishing the memories of back-to-back playoff defeats in style.
The 28-year-old from Chandigarh closed with a steady three-under 69 for a 19-under total of 269, matching the third-lowest winning score in the tournament’s storied history at Digboi Golf Links. Entering the final round with a six-stroke cushion, Sandhu never looked back, collecting a winner’s cheque of ₹15 lakh and extending his lead atop the PGTI Order of Merit to more than ₹29 lakh with season earnings now touching ₹1,21,67,100.
This triumph – his fifth of the 2025 PGTI season – equals the Chandigarh golfer’s own record of five wins in a single season, set in 2022, and marks his third victory at the IndianOil SERVO Masters, the longest-running event on the Indian professional golf circuit.
Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain, the defending champion, produced the day’s best round – a flawless seven-under 65 featuring an eagle and five birdies – to rocket six places into solo second at 12-under 276 and pocket ₹10 lakh. The result propelled Hossain from eighth to fifth in the merit list.
Shaurya Bhattacharya (67), Saptak Talwar (69) and Veer Ahlawat (70) shared third place at 11-under 277. Bhattacharya’s strong finish vaulted him from third to second on the Order of Merit with earnings of ₹92,52,075.
Local hope Deven Bhumij, the only Digboi professional to make the cut, finished 54th at 10-over 298.
Sandhu’s final round was typically composed. An early bogey on the second was quickly erased by birdies on the third and fifth, and a spectacular eight-foot eagle on the par-5 seventh stretched his lead to eight. Although further bogeys arrived on the 12th and 17th, birdies on the 15th and 16th ensured a comfortable march to the title.
“It was a pretty relaxed day with a big lead,” Sandhu said afterwards. “After the eagle on seven I got into my zone and even started thinking about breaking my own tournament record of 23-under. Digboi is extra special – my first professional win came here, and to win for a third time, and by such a big margin, feels incredible.
“The two playoff losses hurt, but my team kept me grounded. All the mental work we’ve done paid off this week.”
Celebrating its 25th edition, the IndianOil SERVO Masters once again underlined its status as North-East India’s premier professional golf event. IndianOil marked the milestone by elevating the prize purse to a record ₹1 crore, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to the growth of the sport in the country.
